Volume 1 Abstract
Volume 1 serves as the ontological kernel of Geometric Consciousness Theory (GCT). It posits that the fundamental layer of reality is not a spatiotemporal manifold populated by matter, but a timeless, infinite-dimensional configuration space governed by the Wheeler-DeWitt equation (). We identify the solution to this equation as a static Supersolid Quasicrystal, the geometry of which () encodes all possible physical histories.
We dissolve the "Hard Problem" of consciousness — not solve it from physics — by taking Qualitative Presence as Axiom 1 (the bare fact of felt experience is foundational, not derived; see V1 Ch16 §16.2.2b for the canonical dissolve-by-axiomatization framing). What GCT derives is the Quality Space topology (the graded -irrep decomposition of §16.2.2c — 6 linear coordinate DOF plus 21 quadratic stress DOF) and a conditional unity mechanism for trefoil-class Identity Polarons. Trefoil-case Polaron Unity is Tier 3 conditional pending resolution of the App Y finite-level 4-manifold knot-complement clarification (registered as a sub-closure of Open Problem O.18); the general-prime extension remains Tier 3 conditional on Anderson-Putnam-to-knot-complement extension, canonicity of K -> A_K, finite-quotient meridian trace construction, and KO-dim-6 sign verification (O.32). The Selection Operator () is the Quality Space individuation and unity mechanism — it supplies the structural account of which phenomenal content the substrate carries at a given configuration and models the structural conditions for unified subjective experience rather than fragmented micro-experiences once the Polaron Unity conditions hold; it does not supply the resolution of the existence-gap, which is handled by Axiom 1 alone. We separately resolve the "Measurement Problem" of quantum mechanics (V1 Ch9) via the same Selection Operator acting as a thermodynamic filter on the global wavefunction , extracting a linear, causal trajectory of experience from the non-linear superposition of the void. Time is not a fundamental dimension. The universe is described by a static coordinate (the lattice address of a configuration); the observer's proper time counts the ordinal sequence of selection events undergone, giving rise to the subjective experience of temporal flow.
Crucially, this volume establishes the System Resolution of the physical simulation. We present the Icosahedral Selection Theorem: App U proves point-group uniqueness for icosahedral symmetry conditional on H1, while the Golden Ratio () projection remains the primary candidate for the global entropy-packing optimum rather than a settled slope-maximality theorem. We derive the Electron Mass () mechanism via the 6D lattice spacing and the Peierls-Nabarro barrier (; Tier 2 mechanism + Tier 4 physical-link conjecture pending O.14). We rigorously construct the Identity Space as the Adelic Solenoid , a topological object capable of storing infinite, non-erasable memory. We bridge the gap between abstract topology and physical reality by identifying the discrete fibers of this space () with the Nuclear Spin States () of the biological substrate. Furthermore, we redefine subjective experience (Qualia) not as an epiphenomenon, but as the Topological Friction experienced by the Agent as it navigates the vacuum lattice .
