Volume 3 — The Matter Spectrum
Volume 3 Notation and Conventions
- Particle symbols: denote the charged leptons; denote the neutrino flavors; denote the six quark flavors.
- Mass notation: represents the rest mass of particle .
- Coupling constants: denotes the fine-structure constant (EM); the strong coupling; the weak coupling; and the gravitational constant. Symbol Purity Note: is reserved exclusively for the fine-structure constant.
- Geometric factors: Powers of the Golden Ratio () represent the scaling eigenvalues derived from the inflation operator.
- Precision metrics: All derived values are compared to experimental data using the relative error formula: .
Epistemic Standards (The Tier System)
As established in the Global Front Matter (01_Epistemic_Tier_System), all claims in Volume 3 are categorized by their epistemic weight to maintain strict scientific rigor:
- Tier 1 (Structural Axiom): The core mathematical structure forced by axioms and standard mathematics. Exact algebraic identities such as the right-handed hypercharge identity are Tier 1 as algebra, while their GCT physical embedding inherits the tier of the split.
- Tier 1/2 (Structural Postulate): Results that follow from the adopted 6D icosahedral architecture but are not deductively forced by the ontological axioms alone.
- Tier 2 (Geometric / Structural): Results that follow from the specific icosahedral quasicrystal ansatz. The target is full Tier 2 closure of the gauge, lepton, and matter spectrum; the current Notation table reflects the present state per Parameter Ledger §0.1: gauge topology is Tier 2 under P1, the lepton harmonic-ladder mechanism is Tier 2 but the specific anchors and pole-mass residuals are Tier 3 pending O.5/O.14/O.15, the proton mass ratio is Tier 2 mechanism with a Tier 3 sheet/exponent handle, and the broad quark/CKM sector contains Tier 3 ansätze.
- Tier 3 (Phenomenological / Calibrated): Models where a first-principles derivation remains incomplete and calibration against observed data is required. This includes the absolute scale of the Higgs VEV, the biophysical Zeno substrate values, the biogenic dark-energy channel fingerprint, and all current B/C-sector cosmology magnitudes that import , numerical evaluation, or .
- Tier 4 (Speculative / Exploratory): Exploratory calculations where dimensional structure is correct but numerical coefficient is uncertain by >1 OOM (with explicit bounds), or ontological extensions held separate from the core falsifiable program. Examples: dark matter glassy relaxation rate; neutrino mass scale absolute normalization; identity persistence conjectures.
Derived Spectral Parameters
The following parameters are derived from the geometric structure of the defect spectrum and the phason fluid dynamics:
- : The number of muon phason channels coupling to the electron defect. [Tier 2 mechanism] for the channel count; conversion to pole-mass self-energy normalization is Tier 3 pending O.5 (see Appendix Q).
- : The tau lepton screening factor from the internal structure of the defect cage. [Tier 2 mechanism + Tier 2 integer pair + Tier 3 combination rule pending O.26b] (computational verification; see Appendix Q)
- : The geometric exponent for the muon mass (). [Tier 2 harmonic-ladder mechanism + Tier 3 specific integer anchor pending O.5/O.14/O.15] (computational verification; see Appendix Q)
- : The geometric exponent for the tau mass (). [Tier 2 harmonic-ladder mechanism + Tier 3 specific integer anchor pending O.5/O.14/O.15] (computational verification; see Appendix Q)
- : The composite geometric exponent for the proton mass, combining electrostatic binding and hyperfine corrections. [Tier 2 mechanism + Tier 3 sheet/exponent handle pending AKN-action closure] (computational verification; see Appendix Q)
- (Geometric Inflation Operator): The topological operator encoding the recursive structure of defect binding. Maps the electron defect to muon to tau through successive phi-scaling. [Tier 1] (Algebra: Icosahedral Projection Window)
